Alexis Apollony, MSW.
Supervisee in Social Work
Clinical Background
As an empathetic and grounded therapist, Alexis is passionate about supporting individuals who are pursuing healing, breaking generational patterns, and facilitating a deeper sense of presence with themselves. Alexis specializes in working with individuals navigating the impacts of complex trauma, including but not limited to Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD), anxiety, and depression. Alexis is an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained therapist.
Alexis has specialized experience in supporting individuals who hold a BIPOC or LGBTQ+ identity, who hold goals of enhancing self-esteem, healing the inner child, connecting more deeply to emotions, and navigating complex life transitions.
Throughout their experience as a social worker, Alexis has been fortunate to gain diverse and valuable experience in outpatient, community-based, medical, educational, and non-profit environments. Alexis places an emphasis on cultural competence and humility, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices as a therapist.
While utilizing an integrative and eclectic approach, Alexis pulls from theories to include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion Focused Theory, and Systems Theory. Alexis sees value in integrating a holistic approach as a therapist, while incorporating mindfulness and utilizing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework.
Therapeutic Approach
As a therapist, Alexis places an emphasis on facilitating a safe and secure environment within the therapeutic space. She does so with understanding that a strong foundation is the basis for meaningful and attainable access to healing. Alexis aims to meet individuals where they are, while incorporating a gentle, person-centered approach.
Alexis utilizes a diverse range of interventions, at times incorporating collaborative, creative, expressive, and environmental interventions. Alexis also frequently utilizes somatic interventions and grounding techniques to enhance the mind-body connection.
