Omid Garzan, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Clinical Background
Omid works with clients from all walks of life, specializing in mental health, substance use, and relationship counseling. He brings a trauma-informed and systems-informed perspective, considering how family, community, and broader social dynamics influence individual well-being. His clinical experience spans hospital and community settings, including his most recent work among intensive care units at the VCU Medical Center.
During graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University, Omid participated in the Opioid Epidemic Learning Collaborative, shaping his expertise in substance abuse treatment. This involved providing supportive mental health and substance abuse counseling to individuals on federal probation as they adjust to their lives outside of prison. He has additional training in motivational interviewing and integrates strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients create meaningful, lasting change. Omid aims to apply his approach and techniques to many different populations, including both patients and providers who have experienced trauma in various medical settings.
Clinical Focus
Omid believes therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, structured, and tailored to each client’s unique experience. Using a systems-informed lens, he helps clients explore how relationships, environments, and life circumstances affect their personal experiences. He works alongside clients to build practical skills, strengthen resilience, and gain clarity, confidence, and empowerment in navigating the challenges that life presents them.
